Autobiography

I am Dine (Navajo) from the Navajo Nation. I started playing guitar as a freshman in high school for a girl, go figure. After that I fell in love with music. I began my music journey by listening to classic hits of the 50's, 60's, 70's. I have many classic influences such as Elvis, the Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, BB King, Led Zeppelin, Johnny Cash, ACDC, CCR, etc. I have many contemporary influences as well such as John Mayer, Ed Sheeran and  Charlie Puth, etc.

Growing up in an amazing family and a good household, I was very shielded from the harsh realities of life so when a friend of mine committed suicide in my senior year of high school, I didn't know how to deal with it. The only way I knew how was through music as I was also very silent about my own problems and feelings. I didn't open up to anyone until I started writing songs about how I felt and my experiences through that tough time.

In college I fell into a deep depression after losing a close family member. I still remember the morning that I got the news that somebody I considered my brother had moved into the next life. I felt so unmotivated to do anything else other than music. I came home and realized that this depression had the potential to end my life. Over the course of that year I examined myself  and bounced back. I realized the only way I could find a will to live life was through my love of music.

Ever since August of 2017, I've decided that I want to take music a lot more seriously and to try to make it in the business. I don't think of myself as an artist yet. I am a creator, sure, but I think to be a true artist you must have a unique sound or style. I'm still experimenting with different genre combinations and capturing specific experiences or emotions, but I'm growing.
